example of json database call local file

I'm trying to find an example of the code of a json database calling a local file in appcelerator. Does anyone know where I can find examples of this of can provide one?

I think it's a pretty simple question. I need an example of the code used to build a database that can actually call information to the screen. Not just the code used to generate the menu itself, but some kind of example of say, if a customer chooses the third option on the list corresponding to the data sheet, he'll go to a screen correlating to his choice.
