Allow user to scale image

Hi, I was wondering how I could scale an image by placing a rectangle box over it, allow user to make this rectangle smaller and bigger - (like how ebay does it when adding photo's), this would in turn, scale the image the rectangle is over. Where would I start with this - imageview holds picture, draw a rectangle over picture, how to capture events on this rectangle??
