Invalid project description - copied kitchen sink, renamed, and tried to "import" but failed

android mobile app 2.3, but can't even set that yet Titanium Studio, build: 2.1.0.201206251749 Win 7 Titanium Mobile SDK Version: 2.1.0 Mobile SDK Modules API Version:2 Mobile SDK Timestamp: 06/28/12 12:16 Mobile SDK Build Number: 6e3cab6 Titanium Mobile SDK Location: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Titanium\mobilesdk\win32\2.1.0.GA

Basically I want to keep a "known good" version of KS and modify a version to test the components, so I downloaded and built KS to make sure it worked (it did with some occasional crashes) and made a copy of the entire directory, renamed it, and tried to import that project.

Titanium says the project description is invalid. I can't find any text of consequence, so I'm stuck. I probably need to change some config file, but which one? This should be simple shouldn't it?

The error dialog:

Invalid project description.

...\appcelerator\Kitchen Sink-12jul12 - mod overlaps the location of another project: 'Kitchen Sink-12jul12 - mod'

Log shows:

MESSAGE NLS missing message: ImportTitaniumProjectPage_defaultVersion in: com.appcelerator.titanium.ui.ide.wizard.messages

  • hmm, I can sometimes (not always) overcome this by changing the "name" value in the .project, tiapp.xml, and manifest. Strangely this works most of the time but not all of the time for me.

When it fails, I go back to the original zip of the project, extract it, again, then change the "name" in those 3 files. The second or third time will usually work.
