Can I confirm that the latest SDK will still not allow accelerometer in the background?

I want to confirm that the latest SDK still does not support the accelerometer running in a BackgroundService code at least for the iPhone. I don't ever seem to be able to trigger the callback function on the Ti.Accelerometer.addEventListener('update', callbackfunction);
